Moving from A2 Hosting (now hosting.com)

Three ways to do it. Most people pick the first one: about 10 minutes, and nothing goes down while it switches over.

Never send us your password. Every option below uses A2 Hosting (now hosting.com)'s own invite or settings screens, so you stay in control and can remove us any time.

1. Point your domain to us Recommended

Your domain stays at A2 Hosting (now hosting.com) (you keep paying them for it). We host the new site. You just swap two settings.

Before you start: we'll email you two nameservers that look like xxxx.ns.cloudflare.com. Have that email open.

  1. my.hosting.com > Products & Services > Domains > the domain
  2. Click Update Nameservers
  3. Enter at least two nameservers (Cloudflare's), Submit (up to 24 hours)

Changes usually show up within a few hours, at most 24 to 48. Your old site keeps working until the switch finishes.

2. Move your domain to us

We take over the domain itself, so you get one bill (ours) for website, hosting and domain. It stays registered in your name and we renew it at cost.

  1. Log in at my.hosting.com > Products & Services > Domains and click the domain
  2. Click Lock/Unlock, clear the Locked box, Submit
  3. Click Get EPP Code (Non-UK Domains); code is emailed to the registrant
  4. Give us the code; start transfer at Cloudflare

Timing: No waiting rules stated in the article beyond ICANN norms. UK domains use an IPS tag.

Then send us: the authorization code (also called the EPP or transfer code). Paste it in your dashboard or reply to our email. Don't post it anywhere public.

3. Keep A2 Hosting (now hosting.com), let us in to fix or rebuild

Best if you only want fixes or a rebuild and want to stay on A2 Hosting (now hosting.com). You invite us; we never need your login.

A2 Hosting (now hosting.com) calls it: Hosting Panel Delegates (my.hosting.com > Profile > Delegates > Invite delegate); cPanel Manage Team; limited cPanel/FTP access · Choose: Delegate for just the hosting service (service-level delegation appears read-only per hosting.com). For editing files: cPanel Manage Team user or limited FTP account.

  1. Log in at my.hosting.com
  2. Profile (menu under initials) > Delegates > Invite delegate
  3. Enter our email, choose access type (all products or selected), send
  4. We must already have a Hosting Panel account to accept
  5. Or: product > Settings tab > Delegate Access > Invite
  6. For file edits: cPanel > Tools > Manage Team (team user) or FTP Accounts with directory set to the document root
