Moving from Hover
Three ways to do it. Most people pick the first one: about 10 minutes, and nothing goes down while it switches over.
1. Point your domain to us Recommended
Your domain stays at Hover (you keep paying them for it). We host the new site. You just swap two settings.
Before you start: we'll email you two nameservers that look like xxxx.ns.cloudflare.com. Have that email open.
- Sign in to Hover (2FA), click the domain
- On Overview find Nameservers, click Edit
- Enter Cloudflare nameservers, click Save nameservers (24-48 hours; Hover cannot stop it once saved)
- Multiple domains: Nameservers menu > bulk edit
Official help page: support.hover.com/support/solutions/articles/201000064742
Changes usually show up within a few hours, at most 24 to 48. Your old site keeps working until the switch finishes.
2. Move your domain to us
We take over the domain itself, so you get one bill (ours) for website, hosting and domain. It stays registered in your name and we renew it at cost.
- Sign in to the Hover control panel and open the domain's Overview page
- Turn off the transfer lock and retrieve the authorization code; confirm Owner and Admin emails are valid
- If the domain uses ns1/ns2.hover.com set up DNS elsewhere first (no nameserver changes mid-transfer)
- Give us the code; start transfer at Cloudflare
- Act on the transfer-away email sent to the Owner address (confirm or cancel; cannot cancel after approving)
Timing: New registrations and transfers carry an ICANN 60-day lock. When editing registration records, tick 'Don't apply a 60-day transfer lock' - Hover cannot lift it early. Hover email service is disconnected once the domain leaves. .uk: contact Hover support with the IPS tag.
Then send us: the authorization code (also called the EPP or transfer code). Paste it in your dashboard or reply to our email. Don't post it anywhere public.

3. Keep Hover, let us in to fix or rebuild
Best if you only want fixes or a rebuild and want to stay on Hover. You invite us; we never need your login.
Hover calls it: UNVERIFIED - no official multi-user feature found · Choose: Hover only distinguishes Owner/Admin contacts (can change records) from Billing/Tech contacts (no changes unless granted account access).
Invite this email: hello@advancingwebsites.com
- No official Hover page found for adding another login
- Fallback: you change DNS/nameservers themselves from our instructions, or shares login temporarily with 2FA and rotates it afterwards

Good to know about Hover
- At least two nameservers, all pointing to the same provider.
- Hover's old help.hover.com URLs redirect to support.hover.com.
