Moving from Namecheap
Three ways to do it. Most people pick the first one: about 10 minutes, and nothing goes down while it switches over.
1. Point your domain to us Recommended
Your domain stays at Namecheap (you keep paying them for it). We host the new site. You just swap two settings.
Before you start: we'll email you two nameservers that look like xxxx.ns.cloudflare.com. Have that email open.
- Sign in > Domain List > Manage next to the domain
- In the Nameservers section choose Custom DNS from the drop-down
- Enter the two Cloudflare nameservers (ns1.example.tld format, no IPs)
- Click the green checkmark (up to 24 hours)

Changes usually show up within a few hours, at most 24 to 48. Your old site keeps working until the switch finishes.
2. Move your domain to us
We take over the domain itself, so you get one bill (ours) for website, hosting and domain. It stays registered in your name and we renew it at cost.
- Sign in > Domain List > Manage on the domain
- Open Sharing & Transfer tab, Transfer Out section
- Unlock the domain and request the Auth Code (give a reason)
- Code goes to the REGISTRANT email
- Give us the code; start transfer at Cloudflare
- Approve the transfer-out notification emailed to the registrant to speed up release
Timing: Domain must be over 60 days old and not transferred in 60 days. Namecheap has 5 days to release after the new registrar asks. Expired domains cannot be unlocked in the account; redemption domains cannot transfer. Some ccTLDs (.uk .is .es .ch .li .de .fr .to) differ.
Then send us: the authorization code (also called the EPP or transfer code). Paste it in your dashboard or reply to our email. Don't post it anywhere public.

3. Keep Namecheap, let us in to fix or rebuild
Best if you only want fixes or a rebuild and want to stay on Namecheap. You invite us; we never need your login.
Namecheap calls it: Domain List > Manage > Sharing & Transfer > Share Access (domain-level) · Choose: Domain Manager with only the settings we need (DNS records, nameservers). Namecheap's help does not list the individual permission checkboxes - choose on screen. Shared hosting is separate (see transfer/cPanel).
Invite this email: hello@advancingwebsites.com
- Sign in to Namecheap
- Domain List > Manage next to the domain
- Open the Sharing & Transfer tab, Share Access section
- Enter our Namecheap email or username in New Manager and click Add
- Tick the settings we may edit and confirm with the account password, click Done
- We click the emailed link within 7 days (same browser, logged in)

Good to know about Namecheap
- Share Access blocks moving the domain to that person's account while shared - remove the manager first.
- Share Access does not cover SSL certificates or expired domains.
- URL/email forwarding stops working with custom nameservers.
