Moving from Webflow

Three ways to do it. Most people pick the first one: about 10 minutes, and nothing goes down while it switches over.

Never send us your password. Every option below uses Webflow's own invite or settings screens, so you stay in control and can remove us any time.

1. Point your domain to us Recommended

Your domain stays at Webflow (you keep paying them for it). We host the new site. You just swap two settings.

Before you start: we'll email you two nameservers that look like xxxx.ns.cloudflare.com. Have that email open.

  1. Domain stays at its registrar; the DNS/nameserver change is done there
  2. To take it off Webflow, the site's custom domain is removed in Site settings and DNS records are changed at the registrar

Changes usually show up within a few hours, at most 24 to 48. Your old site keeps working until the switch finishes.

2. Move your domain to us

We take over the domain itself, so you get one bill (ours) for website, hosting and domain. It stays registered in your name and we renew it at cost.

  1. Webflow is not a domain registrar; a domain used with Webflow is registered elsewhere
  2. Use that registrar's transfer steps (see GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.)

Timing: Not applicable.

Then send us: the authorization code (also called the EPP or transfer code). Paste it in your dashboard or reply to our email. Don't post it anywhere public.

3. Keep Webflow, let us in to fix or rebuild

Best if you only want fixes or a rebuild and want to stay on Webflow. You invite us; we never need your login.

Webflow calls it: Agency or Freelancer Guest (client invites us from their Workspace) or Workspace member (Designer) · Choose: Guest with site role Designer (or Site manager), publishing optional. Workspace Designer is a paid full seat on your plan.

Invite this email: hello@advancingwebsites.com

  1. Open Dashboard > Team > Users > Agency or Freelancer Guests
  2. Click Invite guest
  3. Choose Allowed roles (include Designer), set 'Can publish', and approval toggle; pick sites if site-specific access is on
  4. Click Invite
  5. We (Owner/Admin of OUR Workspace on an Agency or Freelancer plan) click Accept invitation, pick our Workspace, assign teammates roles, click Join Workspace
  6. Alternative: we request access via Dashboard > Client management > Add you > Request guest access
